Sam was born in Dublin, Ireland. Growing up (this is he writing this btw!) he played the Irish sport hurling for his county and studied business in Technological University Dublin (formerly DIT). He qualified as an accountant after working in the restructuring department of KPMG and Smith & Williamson - helping companies going bust! He then joined Camara Education as a full-time volunteer for 6 months before moving to London in 2013 to lead the set up of their UK operation. Camara is an award-winning not-for-profit whose mission is to use technology to improve education in low income communities.
Virgin StartUp, Richard Branson's not-for-profit entrepreneurial arm of the Virgin Group, was next and he worked as a business advisor, head of partnerships and investment team member there - supporting aspiring founders with advice, funding, support and mentorship.
Then the calling to bring more creativity to the world arrived and he set up M.Y.O, an art studio in London Bridge, with his partner Diana, which has hosted 10,000s of guests for creative time through 14+ arts & crafts, created crafty content viewed by millions (Diana conservatively says 1,000s, I think it is millions!) and helped bring creativity to brand launches, festivals and events.
Creative Jungle Company, a sister company to M.Y.O, is his most recent venture and sharing the benefits and learnings from creativity is his passion.
